The rescue journey of a brave black-and-white kitten who chose love — and found a forever home.

It was an ordinary afternoon in Vietnam when I spotted a small, trembling figure huddled beneath a piece of rusted metal near a dumpster. Amid the noise and chaos of the street, there he was — a tiny black-and-white kitten, covered in dust, his eyes weary but full of silent hope.
I crouched down and offered my hand, unsure if he would run or stay. But to my surprise, he didn’t move. He looked up, as if saying, “Please, take me home.” In that moment, I knew — this wasn’t just a stray; this was a soul waiting to be saved.

That first night was magical. He curled up beside me, purring softly, as if he finally understood what it meant to be loved. I named him Lucky, because meeting him was the luckiest thing that ever happened to me.
Over the following weeks, Lucky regained his strength. His fur became soft and shiny, and his once-cautious eyes now sparkled with curiosity and trust. Every morning, he would greet me with a gentle head bump — his way of saying thank you.
Today, Lucky’s journey continues. After months of care, he’s healthy, playful, and ready for his next big adventure — traveling with me back to Canada, where he’ll finally have his forever home.
Author’s note: Every rescue story starts with a moment of compassion. If you see an animal in need, don’t look away. That small act of kindness could change a life — or even save one.
